Your illustration of how the Jewish system was corrupt and how the prophets spoke against it and then Jesus spoke against it was awesome. Notice that they couldn't counter that. The best the one elder (Cosmo?) could do was say "Well if they ever told me to stop serving Jehovah, I would leave." Who told the people to ever stop serving Jehovah? What about in Jesus day? The only things He spoke against was the Jewish system of rules and how they corrupted the Law.
It was a rock solid argument. It was one of the only arguments that they wouldn't even touch.
this has been a discussion in a couple other threads, so i wanted to see if others have experiences with god that they would like to share.
how do you know god exists?
is it just because the bible says so?
Silly J. Hofer. Jesus can make His own booze!

That would work for me, if He's not up to a more showy display of power.
It didn't work for others, why would it work for you? Assume that Jesus existed and that He did what the Bible says He did. There were those that refused to believe in Him too. Seeing is not believing. There's always an excuse as to how it could've been done. It couldn't be true. Some people wouldn't believe even if Jesus walked up to them.

Mine doesn't like the color orange. And he chuckles every time he sees a penguin walk.
Mine too. Except he loves orange.

Who said anything about an unknown God, KS? I know my God very well. And I don't ascribe things to Him to be "safe". I see Him work out things in mine other others lives and praise Him for that. If He doesn't come through for me in what I think of as my will, usually later on I can see why things didn't work out the way I wanted.

God is an easy scape goat. Something bad happened? God did it. Something good happens? God did it. Something bad happened? God doesn't exist. Something good happened? It was a coincidence.

Coincidences can happen, but there comes a point when it's no longer coincidence.
I totally believe that as well, EOM. Too many things have happened in my life where it became impossible to believe that God wasn't involved. I can be mocked by others on JWN about it, but they are experiences that I hold dear to my heart.

So J. Hofer believes in Him, but thinks He's mean. Interesting...
